Model Horse Fun Club (MHFC) is an strictly online showing/racing club that was created in 2006 to provide a fun friendly atmosphere for showing without all the politics involved in most shows today. Since our focus is having FUN showing our models and not WINNING we are free from the prejudices against certain models/makes/molds.
Trish Yanko is holding an online benefit show for the club! Deadline for entries is July 23, 2011.
A note on photo Types:
Please note: This is a PHOTO show club. Meaning your entire photo will be judged NOT just your horse. We strive for realism in all areas of our entries including the scene/photo our model is in. While some people prefer the 'live show' version of photos where they think only the horse should be judged and whatever else is in the photo doesn't matter, this is not the view of MHFC. MHFC was created to be an 'old timer' type club so our shows require the original type of scene photos that you saw in older shows. Photos of just a horse on a table with a sheet in the background or other artistic studio type photos will not do well in this club no matter how beautiful your horse is. We ask that you make at least the bare minimum of effort to use a backdrop and footing that could possibly pass as something you would see a real horse in naturally.
While we are open to hobbiests of all experience levels, even the newest beginner can buy a piece of blue posterboard or material and find a 'natural' type footing somewhere in their home or outside their home.
What we offer:
MHFC currently has 13 different shows running each month with multiple judges.
We offer both open divisions and novice divisions of each show.
Anyone may enter and anyone may judge. All judging is kept annoymous.
MHFC does not discriminate against any make or mold. We allow all makes/types of horse shaped objects to show as long as they are in their appropriate classes/shows. We also allow the showing of all makes/types of animals and fantastical creatures.
Our classlist can be seen above under the 'showing' button. Our shows are Point Only Shows, meaning you do not win prizes for each show, just points and the placings you get. You can choose to keep your horses' points or not. If you'd like to win year end awards you need to keep track of your own points.
Our entry system is SUPER easy, all you have to do is fill out a simple online form per horse and that's it, once entered the horse will stay in the shows until you tell me to remove it or you leave the club.
We have professionally made show pages with NO ADs...there is no judging out of photo albums in this club.
We also offer races for each of the real life racing breeds. Please check out the races page for more details.
Our members are friendly and helpful and we welcome every type of shower from the newest beginner to the seasoned professional. We also promote model horse pedigree assignment (breeding) and usually have a benefit auction of pedigrees to our members once a year.
How to join:
MHFC is completely free to join and participate in. To join you must be able to join our yahoogroups mailing list here or if you don't want to join up for the yahoo mailing list you must either sign up for our forums and post under the I want to join thread. This is the only way you will have access to the entry forms, shows, and other important club information. Once you join our list you will be sent instructions on how to enter the shows, races, performance events and other club events. Due to privacy reasons our show links are only given to club members. To enter the shows you MUST have your photos saved in a free photobucket.com account, or you may use Imageshack (or you may use another service but ONLY if you are 100% certain they allow remote linking, webshots and other popular services do not offer this option).
Points:
Keeping points is optional and up to each owner individually. At the year's end all points are sent to the club president and she will post year end award rankings. There are also accumulative awards available.You may show/participate in the club and not participate in points or year end awards if you like. Year end award winners and accumulative award winners are featured on our websites AND given nice certificates to commemorate their achievements.
